the sacrament of holy orders
Is the continuation of Christ's priesthood, which Jesus himself bestowed upon His Apostles. In Holy Orders men are ordained as deacons, priests or bishops according to the level of the sacrament of ordination.
Deaconate could be a permanent status for single or married men or could be a transitional state for those in the path to priestly ordination. Priests serve as spiritual leaders of their communities, and deacons serve to remind us of our baptismal call to help others. While Bishops carry on the teachings of the apostles, they continue to be Priests. The signs of this sacrament are the laying on of hands and anointing with oil by the bishop.
